Dream come true!

Dream come true!

Please enjoy a story of one of our Fortress Champions!

I was born a Muslim and lived a muslim my entire life until I got a chance to be rescued at the fortress. During my childhood at around the age of 7years I was raped by my uncle who was an HIV victim but i somehow escaped contracting the HIV. My mother who was a very busy lady with work had little time with us as children and always we felt independent, my father had many wives and never took it important to provide and care for his children so we struggled in life fending for ourselves.
When i got to my senior four class in high school I managed to pass but at that school I got taken away by peer pressure and challenges my mother also could nit afford to pay my school fees anymore and stayed home for a year. But in that year I felt angry and the devil led me to a group, where I learnt bad things like taking alcohol and use of drugs and in this situation I got lied by a boy who made me feel that I was loved and needed but in actual sense he meant nothing good for me and got me pregnant, it was at this moment that I got to know that I had made a bigger mistake and that’s when I saw his true side. When my mother got to know about it, she tried to convince me to do an abortion but I don’t know where I got the strength to stand up to her and refused.
Life got more harder every morning I woke up because there was my mother each day angry at me gettung pregnant at 17 years in our hard life, trying to ask me to change my mind. I did not have any support to keep my baby, was so needy even if basic things yet a baby wiukd be coming too soon, i got distrased till i came to the Foryresd, oh am thankful for the Fortress.

My life turned sround for I found peace, I found care, unconditional love, counseling, fun as well as food and medical care but most of all I found God and got to understand Jesus in that place, I received an untold miracle in that place where God answered my player of giving birth without pain an ease, because for real that is what happened.
I learnt hand craft skills at fortress which helped me to leave fortress with some money to start my life with my child, I named my child Shalom which means peace because I found peace here. I was given baby clothes, Mam Kit forbsafe delivery and all the care, support that i desperately needed for me and my child at fortress.

After some minths, the Fortress re-united me with my family after counsellung. Life was a little hard for me but I survived and faced all the humiliation from the society with ease as i had been well prepared for that. I took care of my child for a year and my mother felt regret of what she was pushing me to do after seeing my innocent baby boy, she was so happy after seeing him and even named him Raymond, but when my father got to know that I had became a born again, he disowned me and broke all the ties I had with him, and it was at this time I wanted to change my life and become a woman of purpose that Mama Fortress, Josephine used to call us.
Today, with the help of The Fortress and another organisation, I am at the university studying Nursing, my dream!! My son is also in school livingbwith my Mother.
I also love the Lord and i serve in our church as an usher, love it.
I have got to all this beacusebof the Fortress love and empowerment so i send my thanks to the Fortress staff and sponsors. Your giving has given me a future!
I look foward to helping so many people when i graduate as a Nurse and earn a good living too. Long live Fortress, more girls like me need you.
